The Financial Times reports today that a Franco-German state-funded rival to Google is underway. “Quaero” – from the Latin “I search” – is trumpeted by French President Jacques Chirac as a Franco-German response to “the global challenge posed by Google and Yahoo.” According to our governments American search engines cannot be good for us. Those who thought that “global challenges” were things like poverty, disease and pollution will have to reconsider.

One really cannot make this sort of stuff up!
It is like something out of a Waugh satire.
Too funny...
...These folks are just besotted with their self-importance (and their jealousies.)
BY the time they get this out into the market, the whole emphasis on search egines will have faded away.
The EUrocrats have lost all grounding in the real world.
