Still embroiled in self-defeating bully-boy mode as it relates to badgering Microsoft over yesterday’s technology, the yesterday version of governing now looks forward to tomorrow’s technology not even yet released. PC World writes:
Officials with the European Commission have confirmed that they are examining complaints lodged by Microsoft’s rivals against the company’s Vista operating system, due to launch by the end of this year.
“Several companies have expressed their concerns to the European Commission concerning Microsoft’s Vista, but there are no formal complaints,” says Jonathan Todd, a spokesman for the commission’s top antitrust official, Commissioner Neelie Kroes, adding: “The commission is monitoring the situation, but there is no formal investigation.”
Asked what the substance of the complaints were, Todd said that they have to do with the bundling of products into Vista, but he declined to be more specific.
Of course there is the worry that jobs will be harmed at some point in this case. Not on Microsoft’s part... Ms. Kroes’ office would probably have to be downsized considerably if the original Windows case was rightfully dropped.
Possible motto for a Vista marketing campaign: Keeping Eurocrats employed for the next 10 years!
