European Parliament Bans Opposition

The European Union, the "free trade organization with a few added extras," is officially turning into a pan-European dictatorship. The Daily Telegraph reports:
The European Union assembly's political establishment is pushing through changes that will silence dissidents by changing the rules allowing Euro-MPs to form political groupings. Richard Corbett, a British Labour MEP, is leading the charge to cut the number of party political tendencies in the Parliament next year, a move that would dissolve UKIP's pan-European Eurosceptic "Independence and Democracy" grouping. Under the rule change, the largest and most pro-EU groups would tighten their grip on the Parliament's political agenda and keep control of lavish funding.
The EU already has clear authoritarian leanings and is moving in a totalitarian direction with astonishing speed.
The pace with which these changes are occurring is so breathtaking that it even surprises me sometimes, and I'm one of the most militant anti-EU persons around. Within the past two years, EU leaders have ignored the referendums in several countries rejection the EU Constitution. The Lisbon Treaty is virtually identical to the Constitution, and is now being pushed through without referendums, with the exception of Ireland. This Constitution/Lisbon Treaty will more or less dismantle the existing nation states throughout much of Europe, which constitutes high treason against dozens of countries simultaneously.
That's bad enough. What's worse is that the same EU leaders, including the British Foreign Minister, the French President and the German Chancellor, have officially announced the enlargement of the EU to include Muslim North Africa and the Middle East. A proposed European Arrest Warrant lists a number of crimes, including terrorism, armed robbery, rape, and racism and xenophobia, which are punishable throughout the EU. The European Arrest Warrant requires that anyone who is charged by a member state under the listed group of offenses (which could cover just about anything) may be arrested by the authorities of the issuing state within any other member state. The accused must then be transited for trial to the issuing state within ten days, without any interference, judicial or otherwise, by the executing state.
Racism includes "Islamophobia," according to numerous EU documents. Which means that "Islamophobia" will soon be treated as a crime as serious as rape and armed robbery across most of the European continent. At the same time, European leaders are busy enlarging the EU to include North Africa and the Middle East, thus flooding Europe with tens of millions of additional Muslims. Not far into the future, EU authorities can arrest a person in, say, Denmark or Italy, who has published a cartoon that could be considered offensive to Islam. He or she will then be quietly handed over to the authorities in Algeria, Egypt or Jordan. Remember that blasphemy against Islam potentially carries the death penalty according to sharia. Multiculturalism in Europe is thus reaching its openly totalitarian phase. Those who think this is a joke can look at the Dutch cartoonist who was arrested recently. Several documents that are publicly available (but little known by the general public because they are never referred to by the mainstream media) state that the EU should "harmonize" the education and legal systems with the Mediterranean "partner countries" within the coming decade. This is being negotiated as we speak, behind our backs.
This is part of a long-term plan to merge Europe with the Islamic world. As I've said many times before, the creation of Eurabia constitutes nothing less than the greatest betrayal in the history of European civilization, possibly the greatest betrayal in the history of any civilization. An entire continent, the cradle of the greatest civilization mankind has ever seen, is to be culturally dismantled and turned into an obedient dumping ground for demographic warfare by its Islamic enemies. Those among the indigenous peoples who object to this will be harassed, and opposition to these policies will be banned by law. This is done by the very same individuals who are supposed to be these nations' entrusted leaders.
The time has now come for the natives of Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Spain, Greece and other countries to treat the European Union for what it is: An aggressively hostile organization fundamentally opposed to anything we hold dear.
The pace of tyrannical increases

Deeply alarming and truly sad.
I note that this very column by Mr. Fjordman would be illegal under the new Thought Crime laws cited above. Xenophobia and/or Islamophobia would be useful charges to silence and punish the patriot journalists who write in the Brussels Journal.
The pace of EU tyranny is increasing. How long before it'll be impossible for the Brussels Journal and it's journalists or any others like them to write and publish? Five years? Ten? In the big picture, that time will be soon.
Multiculturalism, your name = death

It's hard to fathom how many American lives and how much treasure was wasted saving Europe from Adolph and his thugs. How much American treasure was tossed away providing a nuclear umbrella over Europe to protect it from Russian communism so they could fund their cradle to grave socialist society instead of their own defense. Now Adolph is smiling in his grave at what the EU elite have done. Unfortunately for Adolph just like he took the wrong path to the atom bomb, he took the wrong path of national socialism, he should have taken the path of Multiculturalism, this is the path to European domination and Europe unsurprisingly goes along without a fight. "Europe has had more than two generations of state atheism..." Now the natives will be force fed Islam, going from the relatively kind hand of a benevolent loving god you had the right to or not to believe in to the forced submission and slavery to the will of a totalitarian god will be a major shock to them. Now over here the elites want a North American Union, basically another EU. I always believed insanity was not infectious, looks like I was wrong. Unlike Europe the citizens here are well armed and not afraid to fight in the courtroom or in the streets.
Mind Boggling Apathy

Every time I try to wrap my mind around what is being allowed to happen to the former 'countries' of EUrope by the sheeple of EUrope, I am left with only questions.
HOW can the once-proud French and German and British people allow the dissolution of their culture and their countries by an arrogant, self-appointed elite?
WHY is this happening? I've heard all the arguments from 'white-guilt' to post WWII western self-hate to the planned establishment of EUrabia via secret agreement between the French and Arab countries, but they all ring hollow. By themselves, or even combined, they cannot satisfactorily explain the systematic demise of Western European culture and the astonishing apathy with which that demise is being met. Aside from the voices in the winderness like fjordman or Oriana Fallaci and others, there is a profound air of resignation on the part of the populace which I find astounding.
WTF?
why Europe has such 'mind boggling apathy' about its own demise

Europe has had more than two generations of state atheism now. Nothing corrodes the will to survive like the force-fed notion that nothing has meaning, no values exist, no God, no purpose can be discerned in anything. This evolves rapidly into 'nothing is worth fighting/dying for', which means nothing is worth preserving. Thus 'history' (as an alleged narrative of the victors) is abandoned. And then the death spiral starts picking up speed. I know, how could Europe become the 'Incas' so fast? We don't really understand at all how the mind works, how societies work at the subliminal level -- it's not hard to imagine that once we stop believing in all the tropes that animated our civilization for centuries, wouldn't what's left fall like a house of cards? It makes perfect sense. This is an apt fate for an age reduced to such 'materialist' assumptions.
Know thy history

Reading Rodney Stark or Thomas E. Woods is a great antidote to this malaise.
First we need the knowledge and the joy of Europe (not EU) and European culture. Then we'll be in a much better position to deal with things.
Question is what to do, how to fix it

While I'm digging through history to find how we ended up in this mess, the important is not really why it happened, but rather what to do about it, and how to bring about real change, restore a true democratic spirit one way or another, without too many broken eggs. It's quite new to me that we have serious problems in this arena, and friends of mine are starting to track the blatant lunacy aside from the problems with Islam and immigration.
But it's a long way. Public awareness of the depth of the problem is extremely low, and it's hard to explain people that a system they trust have deep flaws. Not unlike a certain religion, BTW.
The new limit fell, narrowly

Here from EUobserver, the new limit was not adopted, this time around: http://euobserver.com/9/26221/?rk=1
I'm amazed just how hard these guys seem to battle for the new limit, and with the audacity to state outright that it is a matter of keeping certain, democratically elected, opinions from being heard. Stinks...
Oh foolish sheep .

Is this the first time that the people of 26 nations have sleep walked into bondage without even a whimper . The tragedy is that most people are either welcoming it or do not give a damn .

It is pathetic how fjordman steps from the hypothetical ban of UKIP's pan-European Eurosceptic "Independence and Democracy" grouping to 'Eurabia' plans by EU leaders, which do exist in his fantasy. For fjordman's sake, Norway, which is not part of the EU, will not be 'dismantled'.

It is a struggle for me to comprehend the depth of Europe's cultural disintegration. The Europe of decade's past fascinated me, because (from my North American perspective) each of Europe's countries was unique. Also the relative short distance to the next country makes for powerful, romantic imagery. Think of it this way, almost 4,500 km separates the east/ west boundaries of Canada!
Words eluded me until I read two words in the second last paragraph: indigenous peoples. It is the customs of each land, the culture of the native people who make each nation distinct. Europe's founding people of the dim past, defined what eventually became nations. This is different from, for example Canada, where Western people arrived recently (in historic terms). Traditionally; many of Europe's indigenous people settled in Canada, and the U.S.A. Despite the Atlantic ocean separating us, we are still family. More than that, Europe is the foundation of our values.
For these reasons, I find it to be disturbing times. What will befall Europe? Civil war caused by citizens rebelling against a totalitarian European Union? Civil war between the indigenous people and followers of Islam? Or become a dysfunctional, third world annex of the Middle East?
Betrayal is the word

In fact political and intellectual establishment always sought to destroy the christian end occidental civilization, and Islamization is a powerful tool for that, and that explains why immigration has been so favored during these last thirty years. The purpose is to build an unified global world, merging cultures, nations and races (which means destroying them, obviously). This is an ultra-totalitarian policy, concealed under the appearance of democracy. It's disturbing to notice that formal rules of democracy favours that and not avoid it, as they should. It means that an oligarchy is able to turn a democracy in a totalitarian regime if it controls the media. That's we are seeing I'm afraid.

Although I share your concerns, the majority of the people I speak with think I am crazy to think this. They think the EU is about freedom to travel, get a job in another member state, and impose various trade related laws. Of course, part of it is about this.
However, they don't know what the Lisbon treay really is, don't care what it is, nor think that it will effect them. Most think the EU is about freedom and liberty and [silly] trade rules. While they think this they won't fight the EU because they don't consider it their foe, and I don't think this will change. Personally, my answer is to have a passport of a non-EU country that is unlikely to become a member of the bloc.
