Gay Activists Will Find the Doors Closed

A quote from former topless model and "most beautiful minister in the world" Mara Carfagna, the Italian Minister for Equal Opportunities
I am aware that there is a lot of discrimination [of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals (GLBT)] in schools, universities and in the work place, and I believe that Italy has a duty to fight this attitude with resolution. Having said this however, the GLBT movement cannot expect homosexual couples have rights which are recognised as equivalent or similar to those which a heterosexual family is guaranteed and nor will they have the patronage of the government to demonstrate which is more about exhibitionism than anything else.
As for those who argue for more rights for gays, I am ready to discuss issues concerning private negotiations but not public recognition. […] If they want to discuss how to combat discrimination and to avoid inequality, the Ministry of Equal Opportunities is ready to find immediate solutions, but if someone wants to undermine the concept of family or dictate political agendas to the ministry, they will find the doors closed.
Ministry of Equal

Ministry of Equal Opportunities should be simply deleted, every other solution is just a populism and action aimed to appease to bureaucrats.

I only hope that she means it ! She could be a kind of female Sarkozy that uses conservative retorics only to get elected
Anyway, I hope she means it, and wish we had other politicians in my country: look at those arrogant, sour faces of bitches like Caroline Gennez, Vanbrempt, Freya vandenbosche...
Legal contracts

I admire Ms. Carfagna for stating her position boldly but without ugly rhetorical flourishes. On the other hand, I simply disagree with her main point. Gay couples should not have legal rights "equivalent or even similar to" those of heterosexual familes, she states. Not even similar ones? One of the reasons the developed economies work as well as they do is that we have so many opportunities in the developed world to enter into legal contracts that the signees and the rest of society actually respect. I oppose every effort, on the right or the left, to handicap thriving economies. Let the messed-up Third-world economies emulate us; let's not emulate their dearth of legal protections.

@Armor: That is because a rightwing government *does* things which earn our appreciation.
Beautiful Mara's assertive tolerance of homosexuals, but not of the misuse of homosexuality by perverts to run naked through the streets, sets the standard for rightwing governments in Europe.
The only thing still needed is to absolve the ministry for equal opportunities, which is a leftish contraption of absolutely no use.
bravo!

What's there to disagree with here?
--> Nothing!
It is the BJ's new policy. Now, they also give articles where you can show your appreciation.
