No-Go Zones: A Reality in Britain, Says “Scaremongering” Bishop

A quote from The Sunday Telegraph, 6 January 2008

Islamic extremists have created "no-go" areas across Britain where it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter, one of the Church of England's most senior bishops warns today. […]The Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester and the Church's only Asian bishop, says that people of a different race or faith face physical attack if they live or work in communities dominated by a strict Muslim ideology.

The Muslim Council of Britain today described his comments as "frantic scaremongering", while William Hague, the shadow foreign secretary, said the bishop had "probably put it too strongly". Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said the idea of no-go areas was "a gross caricature of reality".

Writing in The Sunday Telegraph, Bishop Nazir-Ali compares the threat to the use of intimidation by the far-Right, and says that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Christianity to be the nation's public religion in a multifaith, multicultural society. […] Bishop Nazir-Ali, who was born in Pakistan, gives warning that attempts are being made to give Britain an increasingly Islamic character by introducing the call to prayer and wider use of sharia law, a legal system based on the Koran.

In an attack on the Government's response to immigration and the influx of "people of other faiths to these shores", he blames its "novel philosophy of multiculturalism" for allowing society to become deeply divided, and accuses ministers of lacking a "moral and spiritual vision". […]

Bishop Nazir-Ali, whose father converted from Islam to Catholicism, was criticised by Ibrahim Mogra, of the Muslim Council of Britain. He said: "It's irresponsible for a man of his position to make these comments. […] Inayat Bunglawala, assistant secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: "Bishop Nazir-Ali appears to be exercised by what he perceives as the decline in the influence of Christianity upon this country, but trying to frantically scaremonger about Islam and Muslims seems to us to be a rather unethical way of trying to reverse this.

No Go...

I think there is a difference in the "no go" areas in parts of Britain, France v. those of the US.

In the US, police, ambulances, etc... can still access those zones.  It seems that in France, the police don't dare go there... is it also the case in Britain? Anyone know?

No surprise

What's new, there have been reported no go zones in Paris, Amsterdam and cities in Sweden for some time now as I'm sure there are in other significantly sized cities in Europe with a sizable Muslim population. The MSM in collaboration with socialist politicians intentionally try not to report this.

There is no assimilation of a religion that is inherently intolerant and anti-secular, that's the dead elephant in the middle of the room that the European elite refuse to acknowledge.

Amsterdamsky, the pathology of American inner city ghettos, a small fraction of black Americans, isn't driven by religious/secular intolerance toward the rest of the population. The vast majority of blacks in this country are middle class, adherents of the Constitution, good citizens working toward common goals and are religiously tolerant people.

You really need to take your racist atitudes elsewhere.

Yes I heard about his comments re: "no-go" areas. Good to know that the United Kingdom, for all its attempts to chart a different course, has stumbled onto the so-called "American nightmare".

TST: William Hague, the shadow foreign secretary, said the bishop had "probably put it too strongly".

The Tories are such revolutionaries are they not? Hague seems to be taking a page from Obama's book.

I am not certain I fully agree with this. Multiculturalism and political correctness were new approaches in immigration, integration and citizenship when it became abundantly clear that the new cultural minority groups could not be assimilated easily or readily. The problem was mass immigration of non-White Third Worlders to White Western countries in the first place.

US again way ahead of you on No Go zones for whites

" Frank Lee on Mon, 2008-01-07 03:48.
I doubt this sort of problem will make its way to the United States any time soon"

Yeah? Try walking while white through Detroit, 3/4 of LA, Oakland or S. Chicago and get back to me (if you survive) with your experience please. Again the media portrays this as a muslim issue where I think it is mostly a 3rd world ape/human hybrid issue.

No-go Areas in US cities?

This is exaggerated in the US, as compared to Europe, at least if the media is to be taken seriously. Perhaps NYC is different but there are not many places I cannot go with my white skin and feel unsafe. Even black or Latino majority areas are very peaceable, if chaotic compared to white neighborhoods. There are only a few places, generally in the shadows of housing projects, where white skin is a severe risk factor, but then again not having the experience of NOT being white I don't know if everyone else is also as at risk as I am. Methinks this is a combination of the crime-prone culture of the aforementioned populations in combination with misdirected social policy which creates this problem.

Muslim no-go areas, on the other hand, seem as reported to be an ideological creation. Again, there is a heavily Muslim area in NYC where I feel quite safe at all hours, and the Muslim ideology is not nearly as advanced as in Europe as to assert local sovereignty...yet.

Safe in non-White areas?

Quijybo,
I respectfully disagree with you. I grew up in North Philadelphia in an ethnic neighborhood and watched it deteriorate as it began to "change", to use the Euphemism of that period of the late sixties.
It was a predominantly Italian area with most of the residents either immigrants from or descendents of immigrants from the same region in Italy named Montecorvino di Rovello. Even the parish church was named in the English translation of the original parish church in Italy. People respected their neighbors, children grew up with a mother and father and all siblings had the same surname. It was one of the safest places any hour of the day. In the extremely warm evenings during July and August, people would sleep outside on their front porches in their gliders.
Then came the "change". Assaults and attacks became more commonplace. A young woman who lived around the corner from my home was attacked early in the evening as she was unlocking her front door. The attacker attempted to rape her and slashed her several times when she resisted and screamed. I remember as a teenager watching from my parents' bedroom window as two newly arrived street gangs squared off with each other in the intersection. We fought back at first to no avail. We realized that things would never be the same and more and more people escaped to suburban areas until there was nothing left.
I rode through the neighborhood some years later in a moment of nostalgia and had rocks thrown at my car and racial epithets hurled at me. Today it's one of the more murderous sections of the once great city.

Yes the police still patrol these areas but they are de facto "no go" zones for any White civilian. On the other hand blacks generally walk unmolested through the few remaining White neighborhoods.

There are very few places where Afro- Americans predominate that are safe for Whites and for many Asians who operate stores in these areas.

Center City Philadelphia has some attractive areas thanks to the interest of the influential segment of the remaining White population who attempt to preserve the arts and rich history of the city. It looks great to visitors (akin to a Potemkin Village) so long as they stay in that particular area but should they venture into others, they're taking an unwarranted risk.

Strong in the Faith

To have that kind of bravery requires one to be strong in their faith in God. Bishop Nazir-Ali has that kind of faith. Pray if it be God's will that Bishop Nazir-Ali will be seen as a beacon of the light that is Christ over the darkness that is Islam.

@ Watchman

I doubt this sort of problem will make its way to the United States any time soon, for the same reason we don't have problems like the Kosovars had being attacked by Serb militias:  everyone in America has access to guns.  Can you imagine what would happen if some Muslim immigrants in Baltimore tried to bully African-American Baptists out of their neighborhood?  You'd have a lot of dead Muslim immigrants.

@Frank Lee

LOL, reminds me of some rap song that came out after 9/11, warning Muslims not to go to their "hood"... gave me a kick, though I hate rap music!

Give him credit for having the guts......

....to

put forth the truth.....of course, any former Muslim who converts to Christianity or any faith, or no faith for that matter, is pretty much a person of strong will and intestinal fortitude.....

How long can it really be before we start seeing this in America?

REPLY: Dude, this is why you have to vote for the proper candidate in November. Make sure you do. And I can guarantee you, it's not the Iowa Caucas Winner (Mr. Hussein) or his runner up, the Hildabeast!...Translation, you want to see more of what's happening in EU, vote Democrat!...God help us all if they win....
